Yag Laser

Yag Laser

YAG (Yttrium Aluminium Garnet) laser is a highly precise and effective laser treatment used for several common eye conditions. At FURIA'S EYE CLINIC, we offer YAG laser procedures as a safe, quick, and non-invasive treatment option that provides lasting relief with minimal recovery time.

Types of YAG Laser Procedures

YAG Laser Capsulotomy (Posterior Capsulotomy)

This is the most common YAG laser procedure. After cataract surgery, the posterior capsule — the thin membrane behind the artificial lens — can become cloudy over time, causing blurred vision. This condition is known as Posterior Capsular Opacification (PCO) or "secondary cataract."

YAG laser capsulotomy creates a small, precise opening in the cloudy capsule, immediately restoring clear vision. The procedure is painless, takes only a few minutes, and requires no incisions or recovery period.

Benefits of YAG Capsulotomy
  • Immediate improvement in vision clarity
  • Quick, painless outpatient procedure
  • No incisions or stitches required
  • Single treatment — no repeat procedure needed
  • Safe and highly effective

YAG Laser Iridotomy

YAG laser iridotomy is used to treat or prevent acute and chronic angle-closure glaucoma. A small opening is created in the iris to improve the flow of aqueous fluid within the eye, reducing intraocular pressure.

Indications for YAG Iridotomy
  • Acute angle-closure glaucoma
  • Narrow-angle eyes at risk of angle-closure
  • Pigment dispersion syndrome
  • Plateau iris syndrome

What to Expect During the Procedure

  • Eye drops are used to numb the eye before the procedure
  • A special contact lens may be placed on the eye to focus the laser
  • The procedure takes only 5–10 minutes
  • Patients may see flashes of light during treatment
  • Mild pressure or discomfort may be felt momentarily

After the Procedure

  • Anti-inflammatory eye drops are prescribed for a few days
  • Intraocular pressure is monitored after the procedure
  • Most patients resume normal activities the same day
  • Vision improvement is typically noticed within 24 hours after capsulotomy
  • A follow-up appointment is scheduled to confirm results
